Old Village Hall Memorial Park UPDATE - SAVE THE DATES By now most of you have seen the street clock, which was installed last December, gracing the north side of our wonderful old village Hall (OVH) Memorial Park. Funding for the clock was provided through donations by local citizens as well as natives of Addison no longer living in our community who wished to honor special people. Other donations have been used to enhance the site. The OVH Committee has designated Sunday, May 29th to host the official dedication of the clock. The event will be from 2 to 4pm with the ceremony starting at 3pm. The public is invited to attend. Ice cream sundaes will be available as a fund raiser with the proceeds going to future maintenance and improvements to our parks. Please bring a lawn chair or a blanket and join us for an afternoon of relaxation, visiting and fun. Another date to save is Wednesday evening August 10th. The OVH Committee is planning a ‘Baseball, Ice Cream & Apple Pie Night’. During this evening a complete radio replay (commercials, etc) of the 1956 World Series game between the Yankees and the Dodgers will be held. ‘Oldtimers’ will remember that some guy named Don Larsen pitched a pretty good game. A Yankee trivia contest will be held. Other interesting displays are in the development stages. Apple pie and ice cream will be available to round out the event. The time has yet to be established. Save the date and watch the Post for further information. The OVH Committee is holding another memorial brick drive. You will find an order blank for our popular bricks in this issue of the Post. If you haven’t had the opportunity to order one before or you would like to order another, now is the time. There may not be another opportunity to do so. The campaign ends on June 15.
Commemorative bricks to be placed in the ‘Old Village Hall’ Memorial Park are being offered to
interested individuals, organizations and businesses. For just $35.00 you can elect to have
three lines of lettering with no more than 20 characters per line, including spaces and punctuation.
This is a great opportunity to honor a loved one or friend, past or present. Give one as a
gift or a memorial or to just show your pride in your community. The lettering, etched on the brick
by a laser, is guaranteed for life. The bricks offered are exactly like the bricks that are currently
placed in the Park. The first 56 bricks ordered will be placed in the walkway leading to the gazebo.
If you want yours placed elsewhere in any of the present memorial walkways, that can be arranged.
ORDERING DEADLINE IS JUNE 15, 2011. Placement in the Park, late summer. In the
spaces below, place NO MORE THAN 20 CHARACTERS PER LINE, including SPACES AND
PUNCTUATION. You may use one, two or three lines. Each line will be centered automatically.
